  I was 17 and thrown into a facility for the 5th time and I was lucky enough to end up here. The staff for adolescents have been through situations themselves and they use that to help the kids that come in. Some take their jobs a litte more serious than the kids like because they treat it like the kids know better. But if we knew better and didn’t have problems and things wrong with us, we wouldn’t be there. I was there for 9 days and it was worth it. The only place I got help out of my other visits. But it’s also a matter of who has this problem and who wants help. If you don’t want help, you will definitely not get it. They focus on those that truly seek help. And those that don’t want help, they get less treatment. I got out a few weeks ago and I’ve been really feeling better. I wanted to see how the help effected me after being out a while before I gave feedback and it’s also nice to handle yourself outside of the facility because they helped you enough and the way you needed it. But like I said, you will not be helped here if you don’t want it. The help they provide can only be accepted in by ones who want it. If you are dealing with something and don’t want out of it, but someone gives you there perfect opprotunity to get out and you say no, then it is on you. This place is wonderful. Nicest place I’ve been so far. So thankful. Bless this place.

  When I first came to Ridgeview I loved it. Then we lost our evening nurse, she was replaced by a sneaky little racist. See I worked on E- West an all female unit, I worked second shift. The nurse on E -west likes to make racial remarks about black people hair. She even offended some of the patients. The nursing manager is even worse, she is definitely a bigot!!!!! Now I did have the chance to work on all the units. And I never ran into any other racism at ridgeview, only on E-west. The nursing manager stated to me one day to go sing "Dixie" which is very offensive and racist towards black people. Ridgeview institute as a whole besides the unit E-West is good. But I will never be anywhere near a place that is racist. I mean if you don't have anything good to say, keep it to yourself.
